Model Documenter

Turn a Power BI project into one HTML document: tables, measures, lineage, relationships, sources, model checks and report pages. It reads your PBIP folder right here in the browser, or works from the saved model export.

Step1

Connect your model

A PBIP project folder gives the full document. The model export needs no files, but has no Power Query, data sources or report pages.

or drop the project folder here

Choose the folder that holds your .pbip file, or a .SemanticModel folder. The project must be saved as a Power BI Project (PBIP) with the TMDL format. The files are read on this page and never leave your computer, even if the browser’s prompt says “upload”.

Step2

Choose what goes in

Business documentation keeps formulas and technical detail out. Developer documentation includes everything. Change any box to make your own mix.

Model checks are included in Developer and Custom documentation. Passwords, tokens and keys in connection strings are replaced with [REDACTED].

Step3

Preview and download

The document is a single HTML file: open it in any browser, share it, or print it to PDF.

Choose a project folder or paste a model export in Step 1.
